Collodion Dreams

Why dreams? I’ve been fascinated by the collodion process for some time. This is where, basically, light sensitive chemicals are placed on glass (or blackened metal, in the form of a tintype) exposed and developed. They have a distinctive look and feel.

I took the opportunity to experiment with this process, for my 3rd year at Portsmouth Uni. I decided to stick to pre-made tintype plates, with the dream of trying the real wet plate process at some time.

I made many mistakes, but I have kept those mistakes, hopefully having learned from them.

I was very lucky to have so many fellow students wanting to have one (or more!) plates made. After graduation, the plates will then be gifted back to those students, as a thank you.
